Cranberry Apple Crisp

This is one of my favorite recipes for the fall. It is great with farm fresh apples. I substitute blueberries for cranberries when I want something different.  I also rarely add the walnuts listed as optional.  Enjoy.

Cranberry Apple Crisp

Preheat Oven to 375 degrees F. In one large bowl combine:

2 Large apples (peeled, cored and sliced), ½ Cup brown sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1tbls flour.  Mix the above ingredients and add 1pkg of cranberries.

Mix in a small bowl:

¼ cup of flour minus the table spoon used in the big bowl, 2 tblsp of brown sugar, ¾ cup of rolled oats, OPTIONAL ½ CUP CHOPPED WALNUTS and then add 3 tblsp of melted butter.   I tend to add more butter but it is your call.

Grease a baking dish such as a deep pie dish or anchor hocking dish.  Place large bowl ingredients in the baking dish. Sprinkle small bowl ingredients over the fruit.

Bake in oven for about 40min, though it could be less depending on your oven as I found that this recipe can be temper mental.  So start watching at about 30 min to make sure it doesn’t burn.  Let stand for 10 minutes.  Great with vanilla ice cream.
